National Economic and Development Authority Secretary Arsenio Balisacan and Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, in her capacity as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development, have initiated a strategic dialogue to enhance inclusive finance in the Philippines.

During a meeting in Pasay City on May 22, Balisacan welcomed Queen Máxima to discuss critical issues such as identity authentication, digital payment improvements, and the development of open finance in the Philippines.

“We are honored to welcome Queen Máxima to the Philippines,” Balisacan said in a statement. “This is indeed a great opportunity to reflect upon and discuss our country’s achievements in inclusive financing, identify challenges, devise solutions, and plan further improvements to our financial inclusion initiatives.”

The focus on open finance aims to foster innovative financial solutions, improve customer data access, and enhance privacy and inclusivity.

This initiative aligns with the goals of the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028, promoting economic transformation through fiscal sustainability and digitalization.
