In partnership with nonprofit organization Bahay Tuluyan, the insurer is implementing MoveNow: Empowering Young Single Moms, Shaping Futures, a two-year initiative supporting 30 single mothers aged 15 to 22.
The program seeks to address barriers that prevent young mothers from entering the workforce, including limited job experience, financial constraints and childcare responsibilities.
Participants will undergo vocational and financial literacy training, followed by three months of on-the-job experience in food and beverage services, front desk operations and housekeeping.
“This is not simply about helping young single mothers find a job. It is about equipping them with the knowledge and skills to become gainfully employed, make informed financial decisions, and build a more sustainable future for themselves and their children,” Allianz PNB Life chief marketing officer Zanne Magararu said in a press statement.
Beyond employment
The initiative extends beyond skills development by providing assistance with government identification, bank accounts, meals, transportation, childcare and accommodation.
Participants will also receive job-application coaching, mock interviews and workplace-readiness sessions to improve their employment prospects.
Additional services include case management by a registered social worker, family-planning and reproductive-health services, safety referrals and parenting workshops.
Transition toward financial independence
MoveNow builds on Allianz PNB Life's MaPanatag proposition for single mothers, extending the insurer's support beyond financial protection to livelihood development and economic participation.
“Young mothers do not lack potential; too often, they lack access to the support and opportunities that allow that potential to grow. We want participants to build practical skills, make informed choices, and open up more possibilities for what comes next,” Bahay Tuluyan executive director Catherine Scerri said.
The program aims to help participants transition toward stable employment, financial independence or entrepreneurship.
For Allianz PNB Life and Bahay Tuluyan, the broader objective is to equip young mothers with practical resources to build more secure futures for themselves and their children. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
