Under the partnership, Palawan will participate in DSWD's Family Development Sessions, which provide 4Ps families with lessons covering financial literacy, family welfare, disaster preparedness and other areas intended to support greater self-sufficiency.
Informed financial decisions
The collaboration seeks to help households make informed financial decisions while preparing for emergencies that could strain already tight family budgets. Palawan's participation will supplement the financial and social development lessons already provided by DSWD.
“Building financial resilience is not only about earning and saving. It is also about being prepared for the unexpected. Through the Family Development Sessions, we have an opportunity to help families better understand financial protection and introduce practical options like ProtekTODO," Palawan Group of Companies chief business development officer Lisa Castro-Sabado said in a press statement.
"For us, this is what ‘Serbisyong may Malasakit’ means: understanding the realities Filipino families face and working with our partners to help them become more prepared for what lies ahead,” she added.
Secure, sustainable future
“This partnership will be a significant help to disadvantaged communities and underserved families, particularly our Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries. By providing them with opportunities to strengthen their financial literacy and resilience, we hope to help them build a more secure and sustainable future,” DSWD Field Office IV-MIMAROPA director III and concurrent officer-in-charge Princess Vagilidad said.
One area of the partnership is financial protection. FDS participants may be introduced to Palawan ProtekTODO, the Palawan Group's insurance agency arm operating under PPS Insurance Agency Inc., as an option for preparing for unexpected events.
Practical knowledge
Palawan said the initiative places insurance within the broader context of financial preparedness rather than treating it as a standalone product. The partnership aims to give 4Ps families practical knowledge they can use for budgeting, unexpected expenses and longer-term financial stability. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
