Insider Spotlight
The Japanese machinery manufacturer entered the Philippine construction equipment market on Nov. 5 with the introduction of its U30-6S and U55-6S mini excavators, expanding beyond its established agricultural machinery business.
Significant potential
Kubota sees significant potential for mini excavators in constructing and improving farm-to-market roads, which connect agricultural communities to trading centers and other markets.
Their compact design also makes them suitable for urban and rural infrastructure projects, particularly in communities with narrow road networks and limited space for construction activities.
The expansion creates opportunities for Kubota to serve contractors, infrastructure developers and customers undertaking smaller-scale construction projects.
Increase in construction machinery sales
During its presentation, Kubota highlighted increasing construction machinery sales in Asia, driven by growing demand for government infrastructure projects.
The company also reported approximately 90,000 construction machinery units globally in fiscal year 2025, with Europe accounting for 21.7 percent of the total.
Kubota cited more than 50 years of mini excavator expertise, supported by global manufacturing operations, product reliability and an established dealer network.
Continuing commitment to growth
“Agriculture will remain the foundation of our business. Through construction equipment, we are expanding our contribution to infrastructure, better living environments, and the sustainable development of the Philippines. These are two important areas of contribution, united by one continuing commitment to grow together with the country,” Kubota Philippines president and general manager Yoshito Kato said during the media launch.
Fuel-saving excavators
The Japanese-made excavators come in three configurations: the U30-6S canopy, the U55-6S canopy, and the U55-6S cabin.
They feature hydraulic systems, fuel-saving Auto Idle technology and protective structures designed to improve operational efficiency and operator safety.
Kubota plans to strengthen its construction equipment distribution through authorized dealers, parts availability, after-sales services and equipment financing partnerships.
The company has operated in the Philippines since 1965 and maintains more than 100 agricultural dealer locations nationwide. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
