Insider Spotlight
O!Save has reached 1,000 stores nationwide following the opening of its latest branch in Signal Village, Taguig City, marking a significant expansion of its retail network since entering the Philippine market in 2021.
The milestone reflects the increasing relevance of hard-discount grocery formats, which focus on keeping operating costs low while offering competitively priced products to consumers.
Unlike conventional supermarkets, O!Save operates with a limited assortment of frequently purchased goods, allowing it to simplify store operations and maintain lower prices.
Cost-efficient operating model
O!Save began operations in San Fernando, Pampanga, in 2021 and has since expanded into urban and provincial communities across the Philippines.
Its product offerings include packaged food, beverages, snacks, personal care products, cleaning supplies, baby care items and other household necessities.
The retailer follows a cost-efficient operating model, using smaller stores, simplified displays and products sold directly from boxes or pallets to minimize expenses.
Rather than relying heavily on promotional campaigns, O!Save focuses on maintaining low everyday prices.
More than a milestone
“"Reaching 1,000 stores is a significant milestone, not only for O!Save but also for the millions of Filipino consumers who have embraced value-driven shopping,” O!Save Philippines CEO Ramon Greshake said in a press statement.
"It reflects our commitment to bringing affordable, high-quality products closer to more communities nationwide," he added
The 1,000th store is located along Marichu R. Tinga Avenue in Barangay Central, Signal Village, Taguig City.
O!Save's continued expansion aligns with Robinsons Retail's broader strategy of serving different consumer segments through multiple retail formats and price points. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
