The head office of the country’s largest private financial institution will be located on the corners of Makati Ave. and Dela Costa Street. This is the same site as its old headquarters, the former PCI Bank north and south towers which were demolished in 2022.
To mark the formal start of construction activities, BDO will hold a time capsule ceremony at the site on Friday, Nov. 15.
Like the old structures it will replace, the new BDO headquarters will have two towers on either side of Dela Costa Street, which will be connected by a pedestrian bridgeway over the street.
Both buildings will be constructed using buckling-restrained braced structures which are steel frames used to reinforce tall towers to withstand earthquakes.
The south tower will be the taller of the two structures and, once completed, will have a height of 892 feet, making it the Philippines’ tallest steel structure. This building’s footprint will encompass the site of the former Gercon Plaza extending all the way to the former UCPB building that now houses the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The north tower will be slightly shorter rising to 720 feet.
