The mobile showroom, measuring 12.8 meters long, 2.5 meters wide and 3.2 meters high, is stationed at Ayala Malls Central Bloc in Cebu IT Park from November 6 to 8.
The IKEA Home Furnishing Bus features interactive displays of wardrobes, drawers, office organizers and other storage systems designed for different living spaces.
The three-day Cebu stop is part of IKEA Philippines' Home Furnishing Bus tour, which was launched in Pasay City on Feb. 6, 2026.
The initiative aims to bring home furnishing ideas closer to Filipino households, particularly families looking for ways to maximize limited living spaces while keeping belongings that hold sentimental value.
Under the campaign message, "Create room for what you love, one piece at a time," IKEA promotes home organization solutions that allow households to preserve cherished possessions without compromising comfort and functionality.
Real-life settings
Visitors can step inside the bus to explore storage systems designed for growing families, compact homes and changing household needs.
The displays resemble actual living spaces, allowing visitors to see how different storage solutions can be incorporated into their homes.
Guests are encouraged to open drawers, test storage features and ask questions about the products on display.
The mobile showroom also features mini-podcasts sharing stories about Filipino homes and the personal memories associated with everyday belongings.
Through the initiative, IKEA Philippines seeks to demonstrate how practical storage solutions can help households create more organized and functional living environments.
First Visayas store
The Cebu visit comes ahead of the scheduled opening of IKEA's first Visayas store at Ayala Malls Gatewalk in Mandaue City on Dec. 16.
The 4,000-square-meter store, equivalent to about five basketball courts, will be a major anchor of the new shopping mall.
IKEA Mandaue will feature 41 room inspiration showcases offering design solutions for kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms.
The store will stock about 2,500 products for immediate takeaway, while customers can access IKEA's full catalog of 8,500 items through an on-site, team-assisted ordering system.
It will also offer personalized planning services for kitchens, bedrooms, wardrobes and living room storage, catering to both residential customers and businesses.
Famous Swedish meatballs
Aside from home furnishings, the store will offer Swedish food products, including IKEA's popular meatballs and lingonberry jam.
The new branch is expected to generate about 100 jobs, including 50 direct hires by IKEA, with the remaining positions to be filled through its partners and service providers.
During the unveiling of Ayala Malls Gatewalk on June 10, IKEA Philippines country retail manager Ricardo Pinheiro said Cebu was a natural choice for the company's expansion because of its strong market potential and established furniture industry.
Mandaue City is widely recognized as the furniture capital of the Philippines, with a long history of furniture manufacturing and exports.
Pinheiro said IKEA's online sales data identified Cebu and Mandaue as among the markets with the strongest growth potential outside Metro Manila.
The Mandaue branch will be IKEA's second physical store in the Philippines, five years after the opening of its flagship store in Pasay City on Nov. 25, 2021.
The Pasay store, covering about 65,000 square meters, was recognized as the world's largest IKEA store when it opened.
IKEA Mandaue will be located inside the 56,000-square-meter Ayala Malls Gatewalk, a four-level retail and lifestyle development that will become Ayala Malls' third shopping center in Cebu. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
