BNP Paribas picks Megaworld's BGC tower for Philippine banking hub

French banking giant BNP Paribas is setting up a Philippine hub in Megaworld Corp.'s Uptown Bonifacio, adding another global financial heavyweight to the property developer's growing roster of multinational tenants.

The Paris-based bank will occupy space at Uptown Eastgate in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), where its Philippine unit will support corporate and institutional banking operations worldwide.

The move brings one of Europe's biggest banks into a business district already home to JPMorganChase, which occupies two Megaworld office towers covering about 140,000 square meters.

“BNP Paribas’ arrival in Uptown Bonifacio reflects the confidence of global companies in the township as a strategic location for their operations," Francis Roxas, head of Megaworld Global Offices, said in a statement on Monday.

Big names, bigger footprint

BNP Paribas, ranked 58th on the 2026 Fortune Global 500, operates in 64 countries and territories with more than 180,000 employees, although Megaworld did not disclose how much space the bank will lease or how many jobs its Philippine hub will create.

Its new home is the 31-story Uptown Eastgate, which offers about 100,000 square meters of leasable office space and some of BGC's largest floor plates, accommodating companies that need large, centralized operations.

Other multinational tenants in Uptown Bonifacio include Google, Tesla, Coca-Cola and Reckitt Mead Johnson, helping turn the township into a base for global companies serving both Philippine and overseas markets.

Office demand holds up

The 30-plus companies operating across Uptown Bonifacio's seven office towers employ more than 60,000 professionals, giving Megaworld a sizable concentration of corporate tenants within a single township.

Megaworld, part of tycoon Kevin Tan-led Alliance Global Group, has nearly 900,000 square meters of office space across BGC, accounting for more than half of its nationwide portfolio of over 1.7 million square meters.

The developer closed around 200,000 square meters of office lease transactions in the first nine months of 2026, underscoring the scale of its leasing activity as it competes for multinational occupiers.

BNP Paribas' Philippine facility will focus on global shared services rather than a new retail banking network, supporting the group's corporate and institutional banking business from Manila.
