Insider Spotlight
The new facility marks GMAC’s third and largest cold chain operation in Mindanao, expanding the region’s ability to handle temperature-sensitive goods while supporting export-driven agriculture and food distribution networks.
Why it matters
The cold storage hub strengthens the logistics backbone supporting Mindanao’s agricultural exporters, particularly banana producers and other high-value crops that rely on efficient temperature-controlled handling for global markets.
“The entry of GMAC Logitech Refrigeration Corporation into AIE highlights the continued confidence of leading industry players in Mindanao’s growth potential,” Ricardo Floirendo Lagdameo, president of Damosa Land Inc, said in a press statement on March 12, 2026.
“This will be a welcome addition to the Davao Region and will also benefit the surrounding provinces. Our goal is to provide an end-to-end solution for customers who can now come directly to Davao del Norte when servicing Mindanao, given the availability of an efficient port facility and an industrial park that complements the new facility,” he added.
The big picture
GMAC is a joint venture between Glacier Megafridge Inc. and AC Logistics, created in 2021 to address logistics inefficiencies across the Philippine archipelago. The new facility integrates advanced refrigeration technology and supply chain systems aimed at improving food distribution nationwide.
“Logistics remains a challenging element in the archipelagic geography of the Philippines, with 39 percent of GDP spent on the sector—one of the highest rates in the Southeast Asian region,” said Erry Hardianto, CEO of AC Logistics.
“There is also significant price disparity between goods available in the provinces and the prices paid by consumers in Luzon, resulting in a substantial price gap. To address this national challenge, GMI and AC Logistics formed GMAC in 2021.”
By the numbers
The facility will house 11,728 pallet positions capable of storing products across multiple temperature ranges, making it GMAC’s largest cold storage capacity in Mindanao.

The expansion reinforces AIE’s role as a strategic industrial hub attracting both local and multinational investors. The estate already hosts major locators including HEAD Sport’s tennis ball manufacturing facility and Thai Coconut Public Company Limited’s coconut milk processing plant.
What’s next
Damosa Land expects continued investor interest in AIE as the estate strengthens its integrated ecosystem supporting agribusiness, food processing, and logistics—sectors central to Mindanao’s export-driven growth. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
