Robinsons Logistix builds big box hub in Cainta

Robinsons Logistix and Industrials Inc. (RLX), the logistics and industrial arm of Robinsons Land Corp., has partnered with Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. (RRHI) for the development of a “big box” facility for Shopwise at the Sierra Valley Destination Estate.

The project marks RLX’s entry into a new retail format, expanding beyond its portfolio of Grade A logistics facilities. The Shopwise big box will rise along Ortigas Avenue Extension within the integrated estate in Cainta.

Expanding synergies

Cora Ang Ley, RLX senior vice president and business unit general manager, said the development reinforces the company’s role in building scalable, high-impact retail infrastructure.

“Designed to serve both the growing local community and visitors to the estate, this project strengthens RLX’s contribution to Robinsons Land’s ecosystem,” Ang Ley said.

She added that the initiative reflects Robinsons Land’s strategy of introducing standalone formats that complement its existing portfolio while broadening recurring income streams.

The Shopwise big box will occupy over 7,000 square meters of land, with a gross leasable area of 5,000 square meters.

Construction is scheduled for completion by the first half of 2027, with store opening targeted in the third quarter of the same year.

Big box format

Shopwise Sierra Valley will follow the “big box” retail model, a warehouse-inspired format globally associated with brands such as Walmart, Costco, Carrefour and Aldi.

Larger than a standard Philippine supermarket, the format supports high-volume and high-efficiency operations, allowing for bulk purchases and value-focused merchandising.

The concept is seen as particularly relevant to expanding middle-income households and small business owners.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were recently held at the project site, attended by Robinsons Land president and CEO Mybelle V. Aragon-GoBio; RRHI chair Robina Gokongwei-Pe; RRHI president and CEO Stanley Co; and Ang Ley.

Vision 5-25-50

Sierra Valley is positioned as an integrated destination estate where retail, residential, office and logistics components converge.

It is anchored by Robinsons Sierra Valley Mall and The Shops at Sierra Valley, alongside Sierra Valley Gardens and RLX’s logistics facilities.

The project aligns with Robinsons Land’s Vision 5-25-50 roadmap, which seeks to scale repeatable platforms in key growth corridors.

Anchored on five growth levers, the strategy targets P25 billion in net income by 2030, coinciding with the company’s 50th anniversary.

With the Shopwise Sierra Valley development, RLX and Robinsons Land aim to strengthen their retail footprint while supporting community growth.

“This development will serve real needs, strengthen communities and create more opportunities for growth for years to come,” Ang Ley said, describing it as a commitment to building developments “by the Filipino, for the Filipino.”  —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
