Contecon Guayaquil, a subsidiary of tycoon Enrique Razon Jr.’s International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), is transforming Ecuador’s banana export sector with the opening of a state-of-the-art cold storage facility at the Port of Guayaquil.

As the first of its kind in the country, the Guayaquil Banana Gateway ensures uninterrupted cold chain preservation, reducing waiting times and improving process efficiency.

Developed in partnership with Cool Carriers, the facility guarantees that Ecuador’s bananas maintain optimal quality from reception to shipment.

Javier Lancha, CEO of Contecon Guayaquil, said his innovation sets a new logistics standard and strengthens Ecuador’s position as a leader in fresh produce exports.
