Convertible Googlebook
The Taiwanese technology company debuted the Acer Googlebook 14, its first device in a new flagship laptop category and what it calls the industry’s first convertible Googlebook. Designed for Googlebook OS, the device supports touch, keyboard, stylus and voice interactions while syncing with Android phones.
Features include Continue On, which allows supported tasks started on an Android phone to move to the laptop, and Cast My Apps, which provides access to Android phone apps without installing them on the computer.
Intuitive, powerful tools
The device illustrates how Acer, Google and Intel are attempting to integrate AI across hardware, software and mobile ecosystems instead of treating AI capabilities as isolated applications.
“The new Acer Googlebook 14 puts intuitive and powerful tools with Gemini Intelligence at the fingertips of anyone wanting to boost their creativity and productivity,” Acer Inc. general manager for notebooks James Lin said in a press statement.
“As a long-standing leader in Chromebooks since their inception 15 years ago, Acer is thrilled to continue our alliance with Google to launch this brand-new category of premium, AI-ready laptops,” Lin added.
Under the hood
The Googlebook 14 can be configured with up to an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor 355, an NPU delivering up to 50 TOPS, 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory and 512 GB of PCIe Gen4 NVMe storage.
The 1.14-kilogram convertible has a 14-inch 3K OLED touchscreen, 360-degree hinges and a 71 Wh battery rated for up to 16 hours of web browsing.
Plastic-free packaging
Acer is also using sustainability credentials to differentiate the device. It says 49 percent of its specified materials are circular, while packaging is 99 percent plastic-free. Pricing and availability will vary by region, according to Acer. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Corrie S. Narisma
