In a statement, the shipping firm said the collaboration ensures that produce from Bankerohan – known for its diverse offerings of fruits and vegetables from Mindanao – can now be shipped anywhere in the country through 2GO's advanced, temperature-controlled transport system.
This initiative allows consumers and businesses alike to receive fresh goods directly from Davao, reducing transportation time and minimizing the risk of spoilage.
Local farmers, traders, and merchants will benefit from the partnership, as it streamlines the supply chain, lowering costs by eliminating additional handling and trucking expenses.
Sim Marfori, president and CEO of Northbank Holdings Corp. which operates Bankerohan, noted that this agreement allows people from across the Philippines to experience Davao’s renowned produce without the usual logistical hurdles.
“With 2GO as our partner, farmers, traders, and merchants can ship directly from Bankerohan to destinations across the country, without incurring additional handling and trucking costs,” he said. “This also shortens time-to-market — a critical factor for fresh produce — reducing the risk of bruising and spoilage.”
2GO, part of SM Investments Corp., brings its vast logistics network and expertise in handling perishable goods to the table.
Faye Alonzo, business unit head at 2GO Forwarding, expressed excitement about the project, stating, "We are thrilled to share Davao’s bountiful harvests with the rest of the Philippines."
This collaboration supports local agriculture and promotes Davao’s rich agricultural heritage nationwide, the firm said.
