PAL Cargo drives digital-era growth with modern logistics solutions

As Philippine Airlines (PAL) celebrates its 85th year, its freight and logistics arm, PAL Cargo, is stepping into a bold new era — one that integrates cutting-edge digital tools with its heritage of service under the banner of “Care that Delivers.”

PAL Cargo is positioning itself as a crucial logistics partner for entrepreneurs, large-scale exporters, and the rapidly expanding e-commerce industry.

“In today’s digital-first economy, our revitalized business reflects PAL Cargo’s support for digital innovation, broader reach, and tailored logistics solutions that help local entrepreneurs grow and compete in both local and global markets,” Jason Siy, PAL vice president for cargo, said in a statement.

Logistics tailored for the modern market

PAL Cargo provides a wide range of services for individuals, freight forwarders, and enterprises — from general cargo and high-value items like electronics and jewelry to pharmaceuticals, perishables, and even pets. Its adherence to strict International Air Transport Association (IATA) standards ensures security and safety, especially for high-value or sensitive cargo.

Through a strong logistics network and partners such as Airspeed and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), PAL Cargo is helping micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ship products nationwide and internationally.

A formal partnership with DTI is expected to be finalized soon, extending support for Filipino exporters to new global markets.

Even in destinations beyond PAL’s current flight paths, global alliances allow the company to fulfill logistics demands worldwide.

Seamless experience through digital transformation

With digital convenience at the core of its transformation, PAL Cargo now allows customers to book, pay for, and track their shipments online. A mobile-friendly platform is in development, and international cargo services will soon be integrated into the system.

Expanding beyond airport-to-airport delivery, the company is set to launch a port-to-door service. Plans are also underway to integrate Mabuhay Miles — PAL’s loyalty program — allowing customers to earn miles with each cargo transaction.

Among its most in-demand offerings are the Block Space Agreement, which reserves long-term space on PAL flights regardless of volume, and Rush Cargo, a premium option that guarantees same-flight delivery.

Growing hubs, widening reach

From its main cargo terminal at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to major regional hubs in Clark, Cebu, and Davao, PAL Cargo ensures efficient movement of goods across the archipelago. These logistics centers serve as vital links between local supply chains and international markets.

This expansion comes at a time when global air cargo demand is on the rise — up 5.8 percent year-on-year in April 2025, according to IATA. Fuel costs have dropped and yields are improving, offering favorable conditions for PAL Cargo’s strategic growth.

With global demand growing, Siy said PAL Cargo is committed to helping Filipino businesses — especially MSMEs — access international markets through safe, efficient, and competitive cargo solutions. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
