Globe Business has equipped CBS field teams with 215 Samsung tablets powered by GPlan Biz, allowing officers to process transactions and respond to customer concerns while visiting schools.
The initiative is aimed particularly at teachers working far from commercial centers, where visiting a bank branch during the school day can be difficult.
CBS is implementing the program across its network of 257 branches nationwide as it seeks to bring financial services closer to teaching and non-teaching personnel.
Mobile banking
The tablets provide CBS field officers with mobile data as well as unlimited calls, texts and landline access, allowing them to perform banking-related tasks outside their branches.
Using the mobile setup, field officers can process non-collateral loans under the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Automatic Payroll Deduction System (APDS), manage customer portfolios and address queries in real time at school sites.
The arrangement reduces the need for teachers to leave their classrooms or travel to bank branches to access selected services, while allowing CBS officers to process requests more quickly in the field.
“Technology should make it easier for businesses to serve their customers, especially when that service happens beyond the traditional office,” Globe Business Vice President Glenn Estrella said.
Faster service
Estrella said providing CBS field teams with connectivity and mobile tools would allow them to work more efficiently and respond faster to educators and the communities they serve.
CBS president James Christian T. Dee said field officers serve as an important link between the bank and the education community.
“Equipping them with dependable connectivity and mobile tools helps us respond to our customers more efficiently and continue making financial support accessible to teaching and non-teaching personnel across the country,” Dee said.
Teacher support
The companies said the initiative combines CBS’ financial services for public school teachers with Globe Business’ digital connectivity and enterprise solutions.
By digitizing more of CBS’ field operations, the companies aim to reduce operational delays and make selected financial services more accessible to educators, particularly those based farther from bank branches and commercial centers.
The initiative is also being highlighted during National Teachers’ Month as the companies seek to demonstrate how mobile technology can help financial institutions extend services beyond traditional branches. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
