His election fills the board vacancy left by Francisco S. Alejo III, who resigned last Jan. 31, 2025.
Ang, the son of SMC president and CEO Ramon S. Ang, has been president and chief operating officer of SMC since June 2024.
He also holds leadership roles across SMC subsidiaries, including president and CEO of Eagle Cement Corp. and director at Petron Corp., San Miguel Food and Beverage Inc., and Top Frontier Investment Holdings Inc.
A graduate of Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, Ang’s appointment to Ginebra’s board signals a broader leadership transition within SMC, with him steadily taking on key roles across the conglomerate’s businesses.
The younger Ang also serves as vice chairman of San Miguel Global Power Holdings Corp. and holds executive positions in SMC’s infrastructure, construction, and energy ventures.
Ginebra, the country’s leading liquor company, has posted strong growth in recent years, driven by rising demand for its flagship brand, Ginebra San Miguel.
