Prep Palacios named Google PH head to boost AI, video commerce push

Google has appointed Prep Palacios as the new country manager for the Philippines, entrusting her with driving the company’s strategy and advertising portfolio in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing digital economies.

Reporting directly to Sapna Chadha, vice president for Southeast Asia and South Asia Frontier at Google, Palacios will lead efforts to help businesses and communities seize opportunities in the era of artificial intelligence (AI) and video commerce.

“Prep steps into the role at a pivotal moment, as Search—now supercharged by Gemini—and YouTube Shopping transform how businesses engage audiences and unlock growth,” Chadha said. 

She added that Palacios’ “proven leadership and deep commitment to empowering brands and Filipino companies” make her well-positioned to expand Google’s impact in the country.

Focus on AI-driven growth

As country manager, Palacios will concentrate on enabling organizations to navigate the fast-changing AI landscape. She will also maximize the potential of Google Search and YouTube to accelerate business growth and drive innovation.

“I’m excited to help brands and communities succeed in the AI era by harnessing the full power of Google’s ecosystem—from Search to YouTube,” Palacios said.

Decades of industry experience

Palacios brings over two decades of leadership in the technology sector. She has spent the last eight years at Google scaling its advertising business, and previously worked at Microsoft for 12 years overseeing channels, distribution, and the small and medium-sized business segment. 

Her earlier career included consulting roles at Oracle, Ernst & Young, and Siemens.

Today, Google works with major brands and local companies—such as CocoTea, McDonald’s, ChowKing, and UnionBank—to fuel growth. With Palacios at the helm, the tech giant aims to deepen its reach and unlock more opportunities for businesses of all sizes.

Palacios holds a Business Administration degree in Computer Applications from De La Salle -College of Saint Benilde. She is based in Manila and is a proud mother of three.  —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
