On Wednesday, Globe announced the appointment of Cruz—the CEO and managing director of Airtel Nigeria, the largest operating company of Airtel Africa—as deputy CEO of Globe effective Jan. 1, 2025.
From this period, he will be reporting directly to Cu, managing day-to-day activities of the company, before being nominated as president and CEO during Globe’s annual stockholders’ meeting in 2025.

Cu will continue to hold chairmanship of 917Ventures, Globe Fintech Innovations Inc. (Mynt), the holding company of GCash, Kickstart Ventures Inc., and data center operator STT GDC Philippines.
