Insider Spotlight

  • TCL is taking smart laundry technology directly to communities as rainy weather makes washing and drying clothes more difficult for households
  • Its Labapalooza activation lets consumers test washer-dryer solutions through free pop-up laundromats in Tacloban and Cainta
  • The initiative combines product education with community support, including washing-machine donations to beneficiaries

TCL Philippines is betting that hands-on consumer education can help households understand how smart appliances address practical chores, particularly during rainy periods when drying clothes takes longer and laundry can quickly pile up.

Pop-up landromates

The electronics company brought back Labapalooza for a second year, partnering with Robinsons Appliances to operate free pop-up laundromats in Tacloban and Cainta where residents could use TCL washer-dryer products and learn about their features.

The activation gave consumers hands-on access to the TCL Smart Laundry Expert Washer-Dryer Series while allowing them to complete laundry during the event.

Convenient, manageable

“At TCL, our mission is to simplify everyday living through meaningful innovation. We are pleased to partner with Robinsons Appliances to bring the Labapalooza experience closer to Filipino households across different communities. Through these activations, we were able to engage directly with consumers, introduce them to the features and capabilities of our smart washing machines, and demonstrate how these innovations can make everyday laundry more convenient and manageable,” TCL Philippines product director of Washing Machine and Refrigerator Gavin Gui said in a press statement.

Live auction

Labapalooza included interactive booths, karaoke, giveaways and local food stalls, positioning the activity as a community event rather than solely a product demonstration. Attendees could also participate in a live auction for a TCL washer-dryer unit.

Beyond consumer engagement

TCL donated four high-efficiency washing machines to beneficiaries of Tahanang Walang Hagdanan and One Cainta Sunset Retreat Home for the Elderly, extending the program beyond consumer engagement.

Smart-home tech

The multi-city effort reflects TCL’s strategy of bringing appliance demonstrations closer to consumers, allowing households to assess smart-home technology in practical settings rather than relying only on traditional retail displays. For TCL, that approach also creates an avenue to pair product education with community activities and charitable support. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
