This collaboration introduces an ISO-compliant mobile national identity system, setting the stage for the Philippines to lead in Asia's digital transformation efforts.
Launched by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the eGovPH app aims to streamline access to government services, offering a seamless platform for identity verification and a wide range of essential transactions, such as access to PhilHealth, GSIS, and PRC IDs.
With over six million downloads, the app provides users the convenience of storing and accessing their digital National ID, among other government-issued documents, on their mobile devices.
HID's goID SDK, known for its robust security infrastructure, will empower the app with advanced identity protection features, the company said in the statement.
Craig Sandness, senior vice president of HID, said in a statement, “We’re proud that the Philippine DICT Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT) has selected HID to provide the goID SDK to power the underlying security technology for the eGovPH App.”
“This landmark project not only enhances the operational efficiency of government services but also significantly improves the ease and security with which citizens access and use their IDs.”
Sandness said that with HID’s goID technology platform, the Philippine government is set to deliver innovative, secure, and user-friendly solutions that truly benefit its citizens.
The Philippines is leveraging its high smartphone penetration rate, projected to reach 97 percent by 2029, to encourage digital adoption.
With a target of 10 million eGovPH downloads by 2024, the government is poised to deliver a seamless and secure citizen experience.
