Aguda, a seasoned banking and tech executive, previously served as President and CEO of the Aboitiz Group’s UnionDigital Bank and played a key role in shaping national digital strategies as part of the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC). He replaces Secretary Ivan Uy, who resigned last March 6.
"With an impressive track record in the banking industry and deep expertise in technology and digital transformation, Secretary Aguda previously served as the president and CEO of UnionDigital Bank and held senior leadership roles at UnionBank as chief technology and operations officer and chief transformation officer,” the DICT said.
With his background in banking, operations, and technology, his leadership is expected to accelerate DICT’s efforts to create over a million digital jobs and improve access to secure and efficient online services for Filipinos.
DICT emphasized that under Aguda’s leadership, the agency will continue to strengthen digital inclusion, boost connectivity, and enhance cybersecurity to support the country’s economic growth.
