Bengco, a seasoned banking executive with nearly three decades of experience, is set to bring extensive expertise in financial markets and treasury operations to the country’s largest bank.
Before joining BDO, Bengco served as executive vice president and head of financial markets at Security Bank, where colleagues recognized his sharp market instincts and strategic approach to trading.
His career includes key leadership roles in major financial institutions across Asia, including Temasek Holdings, Barclays Singapore, OCBC Bank, Dymon Asia Capital, and Citibank, where he specialized in foreign exchange, government bonds, and portfolio management.
A De La Salle University graduate in Applied Mathematics (Actuarial Science), Bengco also holds a Master’s in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.
In another high-profile hire, Rufus Pinto has been named senior vice president and head of enterprise services, effective March 3, 2025.
Pinto brings 24 years of banking experience, having held leadership roles at ANZ Bank, Westpac, and Standard Chartered. Most recently, he served as ANZ’s country head for India and board director of ANZ Operations and Technology.
BDO is also reinforcing its technology leadership with the appointment of Paul John Siy as chief information officer (CIO) and head of the IT group, effective Feb. 3, 2025, pending BSP confirmation.
Siy replaces Frederic Mark Gomez, who transitions to a new role under the Office of the President, focusing on enterprise initiatives.
