The filings cover three approvals, including a national manufacturer license and bookmaker credentials, positioning DigiPlus for entry into Africa’s most established regulated online gaming market.
This will be the online gambling leader’s second international market after Brazil, whose expansion is currently on pause after its initial Sept. 22 debut.
DigiPlus chair Eusebio Tanco earlier said the reset ensures the company returns to Brazil with a digital entertainment product “that is not only locally relevant but also resonates deeply with Brazilian culture.”
Focus on startup markets
Tsui said DigiPlus is also tracking emerging markets with fresh licensing openings but has no countries to name for now.
“We’re not going into these mature markets like the UK or the US because the cost of entrance is much higher and it’s very competitive, so we are carefully selecting those new opportunities,” he said.
DigiPlus has emerged as the Philippines’ leading online gambling operator, driven by its early move into online bingo in 2022.
