PLDT appoints Robert De Claro as director, Roby Alampay as VP for communications

Manuel V. Pangilinan-led PLDT Inc. has strengthened its leadership with the appointment of Robert Joseph M. de Claro as director and Jose Roberto “Roby” A. Alampay as first vice president for public engagement and corporate communications.

De Claro, a finance and technology executive, is the current president and CEO of the Social Security System (SSS), where he also led governance, IT, and investment initiatives.

He was also a Social Security Commission member representing employers and chaired the SSC Information Technology and Collection Committee. 

His corporate background includes leadership roles as president and CEO of People4u, Inc., operating partner at FutureNow Business Services, and president of JMango Philippines. He also held key positions at GlobalOne Solutions and Cloud Sherpas, managing APAC operations.

Alampay, a veteran journalist and media executive, is the founder and chairman of PumaPublic Productions and serves as a regional adviser for International Media Support (IMS) Copenhagen. 

He was editor-in-chief of BusinessWorld from 2014 to 2019 and previously served as vice president of TV5 and editor-in-chief of InterAksyon.com. 

Alampay earned his BA in Communications from the University of the Philippines and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University. 

De Claro, a computer science graduate from De La Salle University, brings corporate and IT expertise, while Alampay enhances PLDT’s strategic communication with his media leadership.
