Connecting Calbayog to the rest of the Philippines
The new four-times-weekly flights link Calbayog directly to Cebu, offering travelers convenient onward connections to Manila and other major PAL destinations such as Bacolod, Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Siargao, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro.
International connections are also available through PAL’s hubs in Cebu and Manila, providing access to Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
“This new route between Cebu and Calbayog boosts leisure and business travel, promotes economic activity, and strengthens Cebu’s role as a gateway to various parts of the Philippines and the rest of the world,” said Rabbi Vincent Ang, PAL Express president.
PAL’s inaugural Flight PR 2668 departed Mactan-Cebu International Airport on Oct. 26, celebrated with a water cannon salute and cake-slicing ceremony attended by officials from PAL, Aboitiz InfraCapital GMCAC, MCIAA, and the Department of Tourism.
Upon arrival, Flight PR 2669 received a warm welcome in Calbayog, complete with traditional dances and a lei-giving ceremony.
Serving Calbayog’s growing travel demand
Known as the “City of Waterfalls,” Calbayog is emerging as a hub for tourism and commerce in Eastern Visayas. PAL’s 86-seater De Havilland Dash 8-400 Next Generation aircraft serves the route every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, ensuring efficient travel between Samar and key domestic centers.
The route’s launch highlights PAL’s ongoing collaboration with MCIAA, Aboitiz InfraCapital, and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippinesin expanding air access and supporting regional growth.
