The Gokongwei family-led carrier said the rollout will begin in 2027, allowing passengers to stream videos, browse the internet, work remotely and stay connected throughout their flights.
The deployment also gives flight crews and airline operations faster, more reliable connectivity, helping improve operational efficiency.
Developed by SpaceX, the technology giant backed by American tycoon Elon Musk, Starlink uses a network of low-Earth orbit satellites to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet.
Digital investment
“Introducing Starlink marks another important step in delivering a better travel experience for every Juan,” said Xander Lao, president and chief commercial officer of Cebu Pacific.
“Reliable, high-speed connectivity has become an expectation for today’s travelers, and we’re excited to bring that experience to our guests. Whether they’re staying in touch with loved ones, catching up on work, or enjoying their favorite content, Starlink will allow them to stay connected throughout their journey while Cebu Pacific remains true to our commitment to making air travel accessible and affordable,” he added.
Part of a global rollout
Cebu Pacific will join fellow Indigo Partners portfolio airlines Frontier, Wizz Air, Volaris and JetSMART in deploying Starlink across more than 1,000 aircraft, making it one of the world’s largest commitments to next-generation inflight connectivity.
The rollout also marks the first time passengers flying on a Southeast Asian budget airline will have access to Starlink’s satellite internet service.
