Not just VIPs: NAIA Terminal 1 opens main arrival curbside to all private vehicles

New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC), the private operator of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), has announced a major improvement in Terminal 1’s passenger experience by opening the main arrival curbside to all private vehicles.

Previously limited to VIPs, the area is now accessible to all travelers and their companions as part of a broader effort to enhance traffic flow and convenience, the airport operator said in a statement on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025.

Key elements:

  • Main arrival curbside at NAIA Terminal 1 now open to all private vehicles.
  • Redesigned pickup system includes 14 loading bays for specific needs.
  • New outer curbside features a meet-and-greet Area and ride-hailing booths.
  • Relocated rent-a-car, coupon taxis, and yellow taxis to decongest main terminal.
  • Soft launch phase allows fine-tuning; clear signage and staff support provided.

The newly reconfigured pickup system at Terminal 1 aims to simplify passenger pickups for private vehicles, ride-hailing services, and taxis. This development is expected to ease congestion at one of NAIA’s busiest terminals while improving the overall arrival experience.

The main arrival curbside now features 14 designated loading bays, offering tailored zones for specific needs. Bays A8 and A9 cater to persons with disabilities, while bays A11 and A12 remain reserved for VIP pickups. Additional areas include bays A13 and A14 for hotel transport. Terminal transfer shuttle buses will also operate nearby.

A soft launch phase is underway to allow passengers and transport providers to adapt to the new system. During this period, adjustments will be made to ensure a seamless full rollout.

The outer curbside (B1 to B6) has also been designated as a supplementary pickup area with a dedicated meet-and-greet section and Grab ride-hailing booths for convenience.

Meanwhile, rent-a-car services, coupon taxis, and yellow metered taxis have been relocated to the arrival extension area on the ground level, freeing up space at the main curbside. To guide travelers and drivers, NNIC has installed clear directional signage and stationed personnel throughout the terminal.

The company said these changes reflect its commitment to enhancing the passenger experience while maintaining efficient airport operations. Travelers are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the updated system for a smoother arrival experience.
