Insider Spotlight
The initiative allows eligible customers to convert domestic flight purchases into installment payments, making travel more accessible for budget-conscious consumers.
The flag carrier said the program is being rolled out in partnership with major local banks, including BPI, Metrobank, and HSBC.
Under the offer, cardholders can split qualifying domestic flight bookings into three-month installment payments at zero interest. The option applies to transactions with a minimum spend of P20,000.
Why it matters
Airlines across the region have been exploring flexible payment solutions as travelers increasingly seek ways to manage discretionary spending without delaying travel plans.
PAL’s latest move aligns with broader efforts to stimulate domestic tourism while reducing the upfront financial burden of airfare purchases.
The airline noted that destinations such as Iloilo, Boracay, Puerto Princesa, and other local tourism hubs continue to attract strong traveler interest. By introducing installment-based payments, PAL aims to encourage earlier trip planning and improve booking convenience for passengers.
The details
The installment feature is now available for domestic flight bookings made through Philippine Airlines’ official website and mobile application. Customers can select the installment payment option during checkout and complete the transaction through a secure payment process.
Philippine National Bank has also joined the program. While PNB cardholders can access installment options through PAL ticket offices, they are additionally eligible for six-month and 12-month payment terms on qualified transactions, subject to minimum spending requirements.
What’s next
PAL said additional banking partners are expected to join the program in the coming months, broadening access to installment-based airfare purchases and giving more consumers flexible payment choices for domestic travel.
The carrier currently operates domestic and international services from hubs in Manila and Cebu, serving 29 Philippine destinations and 40 overseas destinations. —Vanessa Hidalgo| Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
