Philippine Airlines (PAL) is rolling out its FurPAL program across all domestic routes, expanding in-cabin pet travel options for passengers flying within the Philippines.

The flag carrier said on Wednesday that FurPAL, first introduced in November 2025, is now available on every domestic flight, allowing passengers to travel with their small dogs in the cabin.

Why it matters

The nationwide expansion positions PAL as the pioneer of pet air travel in the Philippines and taps into growing demand for more inclusive travel experiences, particularly among pet owners who increasingly consider animals part of the family.

By standardizing the service across its domestic network, PAL removes route limitations that previously restricted access to the offering.

The details

FurPAL is priced at P2,500 one-way across all domestic routes. The fee allows passengers to bring their small dogs onboard as traveling companions.

The airline said passengers can add FurPAL during booking by selecting their preferred eligible flight on the PAL website, choosing the option on the Travel Boost page, confirming details, and settling payment.

Eligibility rules apply. Only small dog breeds weighing up to 10 kilograms, at least eight weeks old and fully weaned, are allowed to travel in-cabin. Each passenger may bring one pet, with a maximum of three small dogs per flight.

Pets must be placed in a soft-sided, leak-proof carrier with maximum dimensions of 17 inches by 11 inches by 9.5 inches and equipped with pee pads and ventilation panels. Animals must remain inside the carrier and stowed under the seat in front of the passenger throughout the flight.

Health and safety requirements

PAL requires health certificates, updated vaccination records, a veterinary certificate, a PAL waiver and declaration form, and a shipping permit from the Bureau of Animal Industry. Pet sedation is strictly not allowed.

The airline said all flights are equipped with hospital-grade HEPA filters that eliminate up to 99.99 percent of airborne particles. Cabins are also cleaned with high-grade, eco-friendly agents before every flight.

The backdrop

Founded in 1941, PAL operates hubs in Manila, Cebu, Clark, and Davao, serving 31 domestic and 39 international destinations.

It is the country’s only full-service network airline and was recognized for the highest on-time performance among Asia-Pacific carriers for 2025, according to Cirium.

For PAL, FurPAL represents more than a niche add-on. It signals a broader push to differentiate its service offerings while strengthening customer loyalty in a competitive domestic aviation market. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
