Independent director at Lucio Tan’s PNB leaves after 4 months

Protacio T. Tacandong, a respected figure in the audit business, resigned as an independent director of taipan Lucio Tan's Philippine National Bank (PNB), just four months after his election during the annual stockholders’ meeting last year.

Tacandong, co-founder and chief operating officer of fast-rising audit group Reyes Tacandong & Co., is leaving “to focus on other commitments and businesses,” PNB said.

His resignation takes effect at the close of business on Aug. 30.

The certified public accountant also presides over the Reyes Tacandong & Co. Foundation and has held significant roles at SGV & Co., including partner and chief finance & administrative officer. He also served as an appointive director for the Philippine Deposit Insurance Corp. (PDIC).

Additionally, he has been actively involved with the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants as national president and is a member of several Rotary Clubs.
