The ATR 72-600 complements the airline's existing three ATR 72-500 aircraft, offering enhanced performance for short-haul regional flights. With a seating capacity of up to 68 passengers and low carbon emissions, this new aircraft underscores Sunlight Air’s dedication to eco-friendly operations and passenger comfort.
The acquisition marks a pivotal step in Sunlight Air's 2025 expansion strategy, aimed at optimizing operations and broadening its route network, the company said in a statement. By increasing flight frequencies and exploring new destinations, the airline seeks to further solidify its reputation as a trusted choice for regional travel.
“As we enter the new year, we find that there are more growth opportunities that come with the continuous increase in passenger demands,” Sunlight Air CEO Ryna Brito-Garcia said in the statement.
Brito-Garcia said: “Sunlight Air is on a constant mission to upgrade flight frequency and efficiency as a top domestic carrier in the Philippines. This is only the beginning of an exciting year, and we look forward to sharing more that we have in store toward continued efficient, sustainable, and customer-focused services.”
Sunlight Air was established on July 22, 2019 by Brito-Garcia. It started operations on Dec. 17, 2020, with its inaugural flight from Manila to Busuanga in Palawan.
It now operates flights from Clark, Cebu, and Manila to popular destinations such as Boracay, Coron, Siargao, and Cagayan de Oro.
In addition to its flight services, Sunlight Air offers integrated travel packages through sister company Sunlight Hotels and Resorts Group. These packages include round-trip flights and accommodations, enhancing the convenience for travelers seeking comprehensive travel solutions. --Ed: CSN
