LG Electronics is expanding its space-saving Fit & Max Solution beyond refrigerators to washing machines, dryers and dishwashers, targeting households that want to maximize limited living space without sacrificing appliance capacity and performance.

The expanded lineup, built around LG’s “Fit Space, Max Life” approach, will be showcased at IFA 2026 in Berlin, Germany, from Sept. 4 to 8.

The concept combines installation flexibility and space-conscious design with features aimed at maximizing capacity, performance, energy efficiency and convenience within an appliance’s footprint.

Smarter fit

Under its Fit Space approach, LG uses specialized door and hinge mechanisms and installation systems to reduce unnecessary gaps and protrusions, allowing appliances to sit more naturally alongside walls or cabinetry.

Max Life, meanwhile, focuses on maximizing what an appliance can deliver within its footprint so consumers do not have to choose between a product that fits their space and one that provides the capacity and performance they need.

For refrigerators, LG combines its Zero Clearance and Thin Door designs with a flat exterior, allowing units to sit closer to walls or adjacent cabinetry for a more integrated appearance.

Inside, Dual FRESHConverter+ and Full Convert Drawer provide up to three adjustable temperature zones, allowing users to customize storage conditions for different types of food.

AI Fresh also learns usage patterns over three weeks and uses the information to optimize cooling operations and provide more consistent storage conditions.

Bigger loads

LG is applying the same space-saving concept to its washing machines, dryers and garment care solutions.

Slide-in installation and flat designs allow the appliances to align more closely with surrounding cabinetry while minimizing how far they protrude into the room.

LG said an enhanced internal structure and precise direct-drive motor-based inverter control help minimize vibrations while maximizing internal space. This allows for a larger drum and greater washing capacity without increasing the appliance’s overall footprint.

AI Wash and AI Dry can also detect load characteristics and automatically adjust cycle settings, reducing the time and effort needed for laundry.

Kitchen efficiency

Fit & Max dishwashers, meanwhile, feature a flush-fit design intended to maintain the continuous lines of surrounding kitchen cabinetry.

The dishwashers include a one-hour Wash & Dry cycle and AI SenseClean, which detects the soil level of each load and automatically adjusts cleaning settings.

“Consumers should not have to choose between an appliance that fits their space and one that delivers the capacity and performance they need,” said Baek Seung-tae, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company.

“Fit & Max brings these priorities together in one solution. By extending this approach across more appliance categories, we aim to make it easier for consumers to choose products that fit naturally into their homes while delivering greater value in everyday life.”

Berlin showcase

At IFA 2026, LG will showcase its Fit & Max refrigerators, laundry solutions and dishwashers in a dedicated zone at its booth in Hall 18 of Messe Berlin.

The appliances will be displayed in exhibits replicating modern kitchens and laundry areas to demonstrate how they can integrate into living spaces while maintaining capacity and performance.

For space-conscious households, particularly those living in condominiums and apartments, the expanded lineup reflects growing demand for appliances designed to make more efficient use of available space without compromising everyday functionality. —Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
