The Manila GBS office is designed to provide a dynamic workspace for 250 Filipino associates who will deliver human resources, finance, supply chain, and site support functions, serving BSMH associates and operations in the United States and Ireland.
Global vision, local talent
“At Bon Secours Mercy Health, our associates everywhere are guided by shared values and our mission to extend the compassionate ministry of Jesus. The opening of our new GBS office in the Philippines marks an important milestone in strengthening our ministry globally,” Sam Padilla, country head of GBS–Manila, said in a press release on Oct. 14, 2025.
“By investing in Filipino talent and expertise, we are building a strong foundation to support our worldwide operations, enhance efficiency and foster seamless collaboration across borders. Today’s celebration highlights not only our expansion, but also our commitment to the Philippines as a vital partner in our global strategy," he adds.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by BSMH leaders, Department of Trade and Industry officials, industry representatives, and community partners.
Strategic expansion
The Manila center is part of BSMH’s long-term strategy to scale operations globally, improve efficiency, and strengthen collaboration. By tapping the Philippines’ established shared services sector, BSMH aims to optimize care delivery for its hospitals in the United States and Ireland, while continuing its broader mission work through Global Ministries in the Philippines and beyond.
Since 2013, BSMH has maintained a presence in the Philippines through its Global Ministries arm. Through its partnership with various organizations, BSMH addressed the immediate disaster response in the wake of Supertyphoon "Yolanda" (international name: Haiyan) to help with food, shelter, water, sanitation, medical and long-term rehabilitation efforts.
BSMH also recently supported a water/sanitation (WASH) initiative at St. Camillus Health Care Center as part of a broader WASH effort led by the Vatican’s Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
BSMH has more than 60,000 associates who provide compassionate care across Florida, Kentucky, Maryland, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Ireland.
In 2023, the organization invested over $600 million in community programs addressing chronic illness, affordable housing, healthy food access, education, transportation, and workforce development —ensuring cost is not a barrier to care. —Vanessa Hidalgo | Ed: Corrie S. Narisma
