The operator of the country’s power grid is calling for “more coordinated” planning among energy industry players — especially power generation firms, the transmission firm, and retailers — in response to President Marcos’ call for cheaper and more reliable electricity supply for Filipinos.

At the same time, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) expressed gratitude to Mr. Marcos for his ongoing support following his State of the Nation Address on Monday.

In a statement, the company said that the President's mention of key projects such as NGCP’s Mariveles-Hermosa-San Jose 500kV line, Cebu-Negros-Panay 230kV backbone, Mindanao-Visayas interconnection, and Cebu-Bohol Interconnection project highlights the positive impact of its efforts and alignment with the Chief Executive’s vision for a robust economy.

NGCP emphasized the importance of ensuring the reliability of the country’s transmission network for a resilient power industry.

The company reiterated its call for a coordinated, resource adequacy-based, and holistic approach to energy planning, considering supply, bulk transmission, and retail distribution.

"NGCP is ready to serve," said the company led by vice chair Henry Sy Jr. and president Anthony Almeda, as it urged for increased investments in the generation sector to meet the growing demand.

This strategic focus aims to strengthen the country's energy infrastructure and support economic growth, it said.
