The Luzon Grid remains under red alert status until 11 p.m., the company said in a statement Wednesday evening.
Meralco spokesperson, Joe Zaldarriaga, emphasized the need for affected customers' understanding, assuring them of active management of the situation with updates forthcoming.
An hour earlier, Meralco reported that its annual load dropping had affected an estimated 120,000 customers in portions of Metro Manila, Laguna, and Rizal province.
The estimated duration of the power interruption was one hour.
“Meralco may continue implementing one-hour rotating power interruptions if needed as part of its responsibility to manage the power system,” Zaldarriaga said.
He added that customers under the Interruptible Load Program with total de-loading capacity of around 230 megawatts continued to help manage the impact of the supply deficiency.
“We appeal to our customers’ understanding,” he said. “Rest assured that we are managing the situation and will provide updates as needed”
