In a statement, the country’s largest electricity retailer said around 270 megawatts were collectively “de-loaded” by Meralco’s commercial and industrial clients, preventing manual load dropping or rotational power interruptions.
Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga expressed gratitude to their Interruptible Load Program partners and other customers who de-loaded without compensation, embodying the spirit of community support.
With continued yellow and red alerts being declared today due to the tight electricity supply situation on May 29, Meralco said it is coordinating further de-loading efforts and urges the public to practice energy conservation.
