Insider Spotlight

  • Cebu Pacific will raise its total hand carry allowance to 10 kilograms from 7 kilograms for 5J flights beginning Sept. 15.
  • Passengers may still bring only two hand carry pieces: one bag for the overhead bin and one personal item that fits under the seat.
  • Cebgo-operated DG flights are excluded from the increase and will retain the existing 7-kilogram total hand carry allowance.

Cebu Pacific is increasing its hand carry baggage allowance for passengers on its mainline flights, giving travelers more flexibility while maintaining restrictions on the number and size of items brought into aircraft cabins.

Starting Sept. 15, passengers flying on Cebu Pacific 5J flights may carry up to 10 kilograms of total hand carry items, up from the previous 7-kilogram limit, the Gokongwei family-controlled airline said in a statement. Cebgo DG flights will continue to allow up to 7 kilograms.

Why it matters

The higher allowance could benefit passengers seeking to avoid checking in baggage, particularly travelers on shorter trips. Cebu Pacific said the revised policy is also designed to make baggage handling more efficient, support timely pre-departure procedures and help keep flights on schedule.

The airline will continue to limit passengers to two hand carry pieces. Travelers may bring one hand carry bag for the overhead compartment and one personal item small enough to fit beneath the seat in front of them.

The details

The overhead-bin bag may measure up to 56 centimeters high, 36 centimeters long and 23 centimeters wide. Personal items are limited to 20 centimeters high, 35 centimeters long and 20 centimeters wide.

Passengers must also be able to lift and stow their hand carry luggage by themselves. Items exceeding Cebu Pacific's permitted weight, size or quantity limits will have to be checked in and may incur applicable baggage fees.

What passengers can do

Travelers expecting to exceed the cabin baggage limits can pre-purchase checked baggage or add baggage allowance through the Manage Booking portal using their MyCebuPacific accounts.

Cebu Pacific also offers online check-in through its mobile app and website. Passengers without checked baggage can proceed directly to their assigned boarding gates after completing online check-in, helping reduce airport waiting time.

The carrier currently serves 35 domestic and 26 international destinations across Asia, Australia and the Middle East.
