Cebu Pacific is turning to Bisaya music to reconnect with its Cebuano roots as the airline marks 30 years in business and the birth centenary of its founder, tycoon John Gokongwei Jr.

The Gokongwei-led budget carrier has released a Bisaya version of its anniversary song, Where Dreams Fly, performed by Cebu-based band Oh! Caraga, putting regional identity at the center of a campaign celebrating an airline that has carried more than 250 million passengers since 1996.

“Through this Bisaya version, we hope more travelers connect with the song in a language that feels close to home,” said Cebu Pacific marketing director Michelle De Guzman.

From bicycle to airline

The accompanying music video traces the company's origins to Cebu, featuring a boy riding a bicycle in tribute to Gokongwei, who sold goods around local neighborhoods before building the business empire that would eventually launch Cebu Pacific.

Gokongwei, who would have turned 100 this year, founded the airline that began operations with a Manila-Cebu flight in March 1996, opening a new chapter in the country's low-cost aviation market.

Cebu at the heart

The video also features Cebuano cultural symbols, including puso or hanging rice, mangoes and guitars, drawn from the airline's specially painted 30th anniversary Airbus A321neo, with Cebu-based artist Happy Garaje making a cameo alongside the Dreamer Girl character.

Cebu remains a major part of the airline's operations, with its hub serving 24 domestic and nine international routes, linking the province to business and tourism destinations.

The Bisaya version of Where Dreams Fly is available on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, Facebook and TikTok, extending the anniversary campaign beyond the airline's aircraft and into digital music platforms.
