The Gokongwei-led airline has taken delivery of its 15th Airbus A330neo, cementing its position as Asia’s largest operator of the widebody aircraft and bringing the share of newer-generation jets in its fleet to 78 percent.
“The delivery of our 15th A330neo aircraft is an important milestone for Cebu Pacific as we continue to build a more modern fleet,” Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer, said in a statement.
“The A330neo offers significant fuel saving compared to previous-generation aircraft and gives us the flexibility to serve different markets across and beyond the Philippines," he added.
Fuel savings add up
The aircraft arrived in Manila from Airbus’ Toulouse facility in France on Oct. 10, marking Cebu Pacific’s fourth aircraft delivery this year and its first widebody arrival of 2026.
Newer-generation Airbus jets burn 15 to 20 percent less fuel per flight than their predecessors, offering potential savings on one of the airline industry’s biggest operating expenses while reducing emissions and noise.
Cebu Pacific expects to receive seven newer-generation aircraft this year as it works toward its all-NEO jet fleet target by 2030.
The carrier now operates 15 Airbus A330s, 27 A321s, 38 A320s and 20 ATR turboprop aircraft, a mix that allows it to serve both high-volume routes and smaller destinations.
The A330neo’s larger capacity also gives Cebu Pacific flexibility to deploy more seats on busy routes across the Philippines and international markets without relying solely on additional flights.
