In a disclosure to the stock exchange on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, the company said that its subsidiary, DigiPlus Brazil Interactive Ltda., has successfully passed the qualification stage for a federal license with Brazil’s Ministry of Finance’s Secretariat of Awards and Bets (SPA).
This positions DigiPlus closer to obtaining full authorization to operate in Brazil’s newly regulated online sports betting and gaming industry set to launch officially on Jan. 1, 2025.
Brazil’s“iGaming” market, recognized as one of Latin America’s largest and most dynamic, offers significant growth potential, with over 200 million residents and a strong enthusiasm for sports betting.
As part of the final stages of the licensing process, DigiPlus is required to complete post-qualification requirements, including platform certification and the payment of license fees, within 30 days. The SPA will then release the final list of authorized operators.
Eusebio Tanco, chair of DigiPlus Interactive Corp., expressed confidence in the company’s ability to meet Brazil’s regulatory standards and deliver high-quality gaming experiences.
“We are committed to bringing DigiPlus’ expertise in responsible and innovative gaming to Brazil,” Tanco said.
“As we navigate the final steps of the licensing process, we remain confident in our ability to align with Brazil’s regulatory requirements and introduce world-class gaming experiences to this dynamic market,” he added.
This development underscores DigiPlus’ dedication to expanding into a new region while maintaining its focus on the Philippines as its core market, Tanco explained.
The move aligns with DigiPlus’ ongoing efforts to diversify into markets with robust regulatory frameworks. The company views Brazil’s newly implemented iGaming laws as an opportunity to promote fair and transparent gaming practices.
DigiPlus, a pioneer in the Philippines’ digital gaming sector, operates platforms such as BingoPlus and ArenaPlus, as well as popular apps like PeryaGame and Tongits+. This latest development marks a significant step in its mission to expand its presence and offer world-class gaming experiences to a broader audience.
