The move puts DigiPlus’ long-delayed Brazil launch on hold, although the company said the ban would not materially hurt its finances.
“Based on the Company’s assessment as of this date, the Provisional Measure is not expected to have a material impact on the Company’s financial condition or results of operations,” DigiPlus said.
Brazil President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva issued a provisional measure prohibiting fixed-odds betting and online gaming, including their operation, offering, intermediation and advertising, the digital gambling leader said in a regulatory filing on Monday.
DigiPlus had spent the past two years preparing for its Brazil entry. It applied for a federal license in August 2024 before securing definitive authority to operate in January 2025.
Its GamePlus brand soft-launched in September 2025 but was paused weeks later as DigiPlus reworked the platform.
Brazil was meant to become DigiPlus’ first international market, ahead of South Africa, where the company secured three gaming licenses in April 2026 and gained a route into an estimated $4.9-billion online gambling market.
