A vehicle crashed through the outer railing at the departure area of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 earlier today, before stopping on the walkway near the building's entrance, according to New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC).

Authorities have secured the area and restricted access to personnel from NNIC, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), pending the results of an ongoing investigation.

“Individuals who sustained injuries are now currently being treated. The driver involved in the incident is now in the custody of the PNP,” NNIC said in a statement.

The cause of the crash and full details of injuries are still being verified. NNIC said it is coordinating closely with concerned agencies and has urged the public not to speculate as images of the incident circulate online.
