The post, made by a passenger, featured an outdated advisory that was mistakenly displayed due to an airline’s error.
Within a few hours, NNIC contacted the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to verify the matter.
TSA confirmed there is no current advisory and said the notice referred to a 2018 advisory that was officially rescinded in August 2019.
The airline has since removed the display. TSA also noted that its most recent assessment of NAIA, conducted in February 2025, showed significant improvements and was the first review since 2019 with no new findings.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) also clarified that no new US travel or security advisory has been issued against NAIA or any other Philippine airport.
“TSA confirmed that the erroneous information had been taken down at 9:00 a.m. Manila time today,” the DOTr said in a separate statement on Sunday.
The 2018 US advisory was lifted following major security upgrades and close coordination with US authorities. The Department of Homeland Security formally rescinded the notice, citing the Philippines’ full compliance with international aviation security standards.
