Ang announced that he will personally cover the medical expenses of the four individuals who were injured in the incident and extend financial assistance to the families of the two who lost their lives.
“This is a very tragic incident. Our priority now is to make sure the victims and their families receive the support and care they need,” Ang said.
According to initial reports, a Ford Everest SUV diagonally parked at the terminal's departure area unloading zone suddenly accelerated, breaking through the outer railing and crashing into the pedestrian walkway. The driver is currently in police custody.
NNIC is coordinating with law enforcement agencies and continues to support all ongoing emergency and investigative operations.
The company expressed its condolences to the families of the deceased and conveyed its hopes for the full recovery of the injured.
The incident comes as NNIC undertakes modernization efforts at NAIA following its assumption of airport operations in September 2024. The company has pledged transparency and accountability in all aspects of the investigation.
