The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is set to renovate Terminal 4, its oldest terminal, starting Nov. 6, 2024, to address safety concerns and enhance passenger experience, the aviation gateway’s new management said.

In a statement on Saturday, Oct. 12, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) said the renovation will modernize the 76-year-old facility, which currently supports 2.23% of NAIA’s total daily passenger traffic.

The NNIC announced that the primary focus of the renovation will be safety upgrades. Improvements to passenger flow and facility modernization will also be key components of the project. The renovated terminal is expected to reopen by Feb. 2025.

Currently, Terminal 4 handles 2,900 passengers daily, serving domestic flights by AirSWIFT, Sunlight Air, and CebGo.

These airlines will temporarily relocate their operations to Terminal 2 during the renovation. NNIC is working closely with the carriers to ensure a seamless transition and minimize disruptions for passengers.

“Our goal is to make Terminal 4 more comfortable and efficient for travelers,” NNIC said. “While there may be some temporary disruptions, we appreciate the public’s understanding and patience as we work to deliver these much-needed improvements.”

Travelers are encouraged to check with their airlines for updated flight schedules. NNIC will also provide real-time updates on the renovation progress through its official channels: @newnaiaph on X (formerly Twitter), “Ninoy Aquino International Airport” on Facebook, and its website, newnaia.com.ph.

The renovation of Terminal 4 marks another step in NAIA’s broader initiative to modernize its facilities and provide better services to travelers, the firm said.
