NAIA meets passenger volume, travel surge with new fleet of vehicles

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) — operated by New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) — has bolstered its ground operations and passenger services with the introduction of a new fleet of vehicles.

The move aims to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and convenience at the country’s busiest airport, the facility’s private operator said in a statement on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025.

The fleet includes two ambulances equipped with advanced medical tools and staffed by trained paramedics to ensure swift emergency response.

Additionally, three “follow me” vehicles have been deployed to guide aircraft to designated parking positions, reducing taxi times and improving operational flow.

To address the needs of passengers, particularly those with connecting flights or mobility challenges, four inter-terminal coasters have been introduced. These coasters enable smoother airside transfers, enhancing comfort and efficiency for travelers.

“These vehicles are essential to support efficient operations and improve the overall passenger experience at NAIA,” NNIC president Ramon Ang said. “They complement NAIA’s existing fleet and reflect our commitment to providing a seamless and reliable airport experience.”

The initiative comes as NAIA experienced record-breaking passenger numbers in 2024, with 50.1 million travelers — a 10.43-percent increase from 2023. The expanded fleet is designed to address the demands of growing traffic while maintaining high service standards.

This development forms part of NNIC’s broader efforts to modernize NAIA and deliver a world-class airport experience, the firm said.
