The recognition comes as the SM Group continues to expand its presence across the Philippines through shopping malls, retail stores and banking, with its growing operations providing jobs and career opportunities to thousands of Filipinos.
“Our people are central to SM’s continued growth. We want employees to feel respected, have the support to do their best work and find opportunities to build their careers here,” SM Investments president and CEO Frederic C. DyBuncio said in a statement.
“This recognition encourages us to keep listening to improve the experience of working at SM,” he added.
Two SM businesses make the list
BDO ranked 164th in TIME and Statista's Asia-Pacific Best Employers of 2027 list, while SM Investments secured 206th place, giving the group two entries among the region's recognized companies.
The ranking was based on employee satisfaction surveys conducted between 2024 and 2026, evaluating workplace experiences rather than company size, revenue or profitability.
Philippine companies in good company
SM Investments and BDO joined other Philippine companies on the list, including Unilab, Ayala Corp., Metrobank, San Miguel Corp., Jollibee Foods Corp., Philippine Airlines, Megaworld, PLDT and ABS-CBN.
American semiconductor equipment maker KLA topped the regional ranking, followed by JPMorganChase, Canva, Microsoft and Sony Corp., while LEGO, Toyota, Nintendo, Alphabet and Wise rounded out the top 10.
