Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman shared on social media that during a recent early morning flight to Butuan, she witnessed Muslim passengers praying in a corner of the Terminal 2 arrival area due to the absence of a dedicated prayer room.
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) is pulling out all the stops for the P2.45-billion Pagcor Corporate Center, commissioning the country’s best architects and builders to complete the project by 2028.
However, the 60-kph speed limit will remain enforced on curved sections of both expressways to ensure safety. Ramon Ang said this will reduce the risk of accidents due to motorists' miscalculation or oversteering.
The initiative comes as NAIA experienced record-breaking passenger numbers in 2024, with 50.1 million travelers — a 10.43-percent increase from 2023. The expanded fleet is designed to address the demands of growing traffic while maintaining high service standards.
In a statement on Jan. 7, 2025, the conglomerate said this initiative, conducted under its “Better Rivers PH” program, removed nearly 700,000 tons of silt and waste from the river, spanning 26.3 kilometers.
NAIA achieved an average on-time performance of 83.36 percent, with a high of 88.35 percent recorded on Dec. 31 — the best on time performance since NNIC assumed management.
The project is meant to address persistent power issues that have plagued the airport due to outdated infrastructure, lack of modernization, and inadequate capacity.
Ramon Ang, chair and CEO of San Miguel Corp., confirmed the installation of 522 automatic license plate recognition cameras across toll plazas and gantries in its 220-kilometer expressway network — the South Luzon Expressway, the Skyway system, and the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway.
San Miguel said its chairman and CEO Ramon Ang has instructed the company’s business units to fast-track the delivery of essential food supplies to the hardest-hit areas.
