Insider spotlight:
The announcement was made last week, with AIM board of trustees chair Erramon Aboitiz stating, “We are delighted that Dr. Kang has agreed to continue her appointment at this critical juncture in AIM’s growth. We look forward to witnessing continued successes under her leadership.”
Since assuming office in 2015, Dr. Kang has led AIM through a period of revitalization. She expanded the Institute’s academic offerings from three degree programs to fifteen, increasing annual student enrollment from under 200 to nearly 1,300.
Her administration also ushered in AIM’s rebranding in 2018 and launched new programs in data science, fintech, cybersecurity, crisis management, and more—aligning AIM with the needs of an evolving business landscape.
Dr. Kang’s term also marked a historic first with the launch of the Philippines’ first transnational double-degree undergraduate program in partnership with the University of Houston, granting students dual qualifications in data science and management information systems.
Her leadership during the pandemic ensured uninterrupted instruction and on-time graduations while prioritizing the well-being of the AIM community.
Beyond AIM, Dr. Kang has played key roles in global academic organizations, chairing the AACSB and AAPBS and serving on boards such as EFMD, PRME, and GBSN. These positions have elevated AIM’s global standing.
She also led efforts that secured the largest single cash donation in Philippine higher education history and pushed forward campus modernization projects.
Dr. Kang’s third term continues a trajectory of institutional reform and global engagement, with AIM reaffirming its mission to develop business leaders capable of transforming Asian economies.
