The big picture

For Palawan Group, the scholarship program represents an investment in developing future professionals while contributing to nation-building through education.

Over nearly three decades, the initiative has helped students pursue higher education and build careers as engineers, educators, certified public accountants, and other professionals.

“Education creates opportunities, transforms lives, and uplifts communities. I truly believe that every scholar we support is a key to a better future for the Philippines,” Palawan Group of Companies chair and founder Bobby L. Castro said in a press statement.

“He added, our company actively takes part in nation-building, and we believe education is one of the most powerful ways to make a meaningful impact. Ang ating scholarship program ay walang hinihinging kapalit. Ang akin lamang hinihiling, paunlarin ninyo ang inyong mga sarili. Balang araw, kayo rin ay makatutulong magpa-aral ng susunod na henerasyon ng mga Pilipino,” he added.

Why it matters

The company said its flagship scholarship program aims to do more than provide financial assistance by nurturing future leaders and responsible citizens capable of contributing to national development.

The graduates' stories of perseverance were highlighted during the celebration as examples of how education can create opportunities despite economic barriers.

Deputy chair and co-founder, as well as the brains and heart behind the scholarship program Angelita M. Castro appealed to the graduates to remain kind, do what is right, and stay grounded in malasakit.  | Contributed photo

“I was tasked to deliver an inspirational message, but really, you are our inspiration. Armed with the dream of giving your family better lives, you persevered, you reached the finish line. I ask that you continue to love your families and continue to do better for them.” Palawan Group deputy chair and co-founder Angelita M. Castro said.

“As you enter the next season of your lives, as you grow to become professionals, be kind, do what is right, and stay grounded in malasakit,” Castro said.
